Summer season

Amadouvier is available throughout the year.  However because there is no chalet girl in residence in the summer, we will only rent to people we know, or through an agency whose service includes the provision of a host/hostess.  Also no children under age of 8 - sorry.

Verbier is a vibrant resort in the summer, with mountain bikes replacing skis outside every shop and café.  Hiking and mountain biking are the principal sports.  There are 400 kilometres of marked hiking trails and 200 of biking rails - varying from very easy to extremely demanding - and the scenery is breathtaking.  As the lifts remain open during the summer, those who want an easy time can ride up, have a picnic lunch while enjoying the spectacular view, and then walk or cycle back down.  For the more ambitious, what about taking a guide and staying in a mountain cabin overnight?  Or even tackle the Tour du Val de Bagnes, or Tour de Combin?

Children are well catered for, with climbing walls, canyoning, the Sentier Suspendu (harnessed high ropes course through the trees of increasingly difficulty), and a good sports centre with swimming pool, iceskating and tennis courts.

The two weeks of music festival is the highlight of the summer for many adults, with guests and top ranked performing artists coming from all over the world.  Accomodation is hard to come by during this period, with Verbier as full as during the ski season.  Amadouvier is spectacularly well placed for this festival, being situated about 100m away from the principal venue for concerts.

The chalet works well during the summer.  Its wonderful terrace really comes into its own.  We have equipped it with a large dining table and 10 chairs, sun loungers and of course a large barbecue.
